I’ve added a new major resource to the site: A Parish Inheritance: A Hymnological Study of St. Mary’s Parish. This curated packet grew out of a simple but searching question: “What happened to the hymns we once sang at St. Mary’s?” It traces how a deeply Catholic, Eucharistic, and Marian repertoire shaped parish life over decades—and how that musical memory can quietly fade when its carriers are no longer at the organ bench or in the choir loft.

The study brings together doctrinal grounding, pastoral reflection, and practical tools for pastors, musicians, and parish leaders who want to choose hymns “in a spirit of service to the Church’s liturgical prayer and to those entrusted with its care.” As the cover letter notes, “They are offered not to provoke change, but to deepen understanding—so that any future decisions, whenever they are made, may be shaped by reverence, clarity, and care for the unity of worship.”

You’ll find a doctrinal definition of a Catholic hymn, a pastoral narrative of St. Mary’s musical journey, and appendices on chant, hymn categories, sample analyses, and bulletin-ready formation pieces.
